Eveprest Multipurpose Prestashop Theme
I have designed clients’ websites with Big Cartel, Shopify, and WooCoomerce. Each has its own unique characteristics that makes it stand out from the competition. PrestaShop is another ecommerce platform to keep in mind. It is open source and it has a pretty solid community. In this review, I will show you how install PrestaShop and how to install our featured product this month–The EvePrest Multi-purpose PrestaShop Theme!
In order to install PrestaShop, you will need to download a third-party FTP client such as Filezilla. Filezilla will enable you to upload all the files from PrestaShop to your web server. If you do not know how to upload the files, please reach out to your hosting provider or you can contact us! We will be glad to assist you. Do not upload the Folder that says PrestaShop 184.108.40.206. As shown on the right picture below, you will need to highlight all the files contained in the PrestaShop folder. Right click on the highlighted files and click upload. You will then need to give the files time to load. Once the files have finished you will be able to finally install PrestaShop on your webserver.
The next step will be to go to a browser such as Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome. You will need to type in the following: http://www.yourdomain.com/install. Note: Replace your actual domain where I have “yourdomain”. You will then have to choose your language, agree to the license, go through the system compability check, input your store information, go through the system configuration, and then the store installation. To expedite the time I chose not to show the first 4 steps. As shown below, once you finish the first 4 steps, you will need to make sure you have a database created. You can create any database name. Your database login should be provided by your hosting provider as well as the database password. When you have configured your database correctly, the test database connection should yield successful results. You will then proceed to system configuration and the store will install. Once the store has been installed, you will need to go back to your file manager via CPanel (Hosting such as GoDaddy) or Filezilla to delete the “install folder”. This is done for security purposes and will allow you access to the PrestaShop Dashboard. Failure to do so could result in someone installing content on your site.
If you are reading this far, it means you’ve installed PrestaShop correctly. Now we are ready to install the EvePrest Theme. To do so, you need to go to Preferences–>Themes–>Import Theme. Next, click on “Add File” and point to the file location of the zipped “Theme1382.zip”. Finally, click save. You then need to scroll down to the bottom to locate the theme just installed and click “Use this theme.” Now we will be able to upload sample data!
Installing Sample Data
Next you will need to install the sample data. The sample data is optional to install, but I recommend that you install it. Why you may ask? The sample data will make the store similar to the demo that you see on Template Monster’s website. In fact, I love loading the sample data so that I have a structured website. I simply replace the stock images with my own images. If you are an advanced developer you may wish to delve into the CSS, HTML, PHP code, etc. to give your site more appeal and advanced features. For the average Joe, replacing the text and images with your own will help you get an online store up in no time.
This theme comes packed with 30+ premium features. One of the features that we like is the Template Monster Layout Module. This module is essential in helping make sure that your layout is in great form. Listed in the image are additional features that you will be delighted to have at your disposal.
For me the installation was a piece of cake because I have experience with installing the theme. I believe that beginners who have no experience would be able to install the EvePrest theme with no issues if they follow the great documentation provided step by step. For $49, Template Monster will install the EvePrest theme for you. This maybe worthwhile for those of you who do not want to mess up anything. I don’t blame you at all! With the various premium modules available, it is hard not to love this theme. I’ll have to spend more time playing with dashboard to see how easy it is to upload new products, but editing pages wasn’t a difficult as I imagined. It would be nice to have the MotoPress Content editor to do front-end text editing. Maybe that is something that could be added. The MotoPress Slider is included in the theme so maybe it would be possible to include the Content Editor in future updates or new releases! You will need to spend much time getting familar with the back-end before trying to do a lot. Not to fret though because the theme has great documentation that will walk you through the basics of what you need to know. You will also find documentation on PrestaShop’s website as well. Overall, the theme will allow you to have an online shop online without having to do too much heavy lifting or any coding.
