DesignCap Review: Graphic Design Software
If you are a fellow web developer, we probably share something in common. What is that commonality you ask? I have basic graphic design skills and lack the creativity that some skills graphic designer have. That’s where DesignCap comes into play. It is a graphic design software aimed at making graphic design fun and easy. I’ve decided to give the DesignCap Plus Package a try.
How Much Does DesignCap Cost?
I’m sure that’s the first thing that pops into your mind and that’s why I decided to start here. For the most part, DesignCap is free, but you can also from two other plans that give you premium features that I think you’ll find helpful.
One in particular is the High-End PNG & PDF Exports. PNG’s are often associated with the ability to have a transparent background. The PDF Exports are good if you have to put together a presentation or create an eBook. Depending on your budget, you can pay annually or monthly. I often pay annually for a service so I can get the payment done right away. For some services that have a high annual fee, I’ll pay month to month. Pick what works best for you or your team.
There’s a Template for That
You get a template! You get a template! You get a template! DesignCap has several design templates that will have inspire your design needs. With over hundreds of templates to choose from, you’ll be able to customize one of the templates in just a few minutes.
With the plus package, you have access to unlimited stock images. These stock images have quality resolution that will make your designs stand-out. In addition, you do not have to worry about trying to capture your own photos unless you need to.
How Easy Is It to Design with DesignCap?
The moment you get started with a design, you will be presented with a blank canvas to your right and templates to your left. To the far left, you will have the option to choose between elements, photos, charts, uploads, text, modules, and background.
Listed under the Elements tab is various lines and shape types for one to use in their design.
If you have the Plus package you will have access to unlimited stock images. You can search in the search box or choose a category. This will allow you to choose the type of photo you want to use for your design with ease.
Charts is one of the most impressive features in DesignCap. When you click on any of the charts, a lightbox (pop-up) will appear. From there you will be able to edit the data set and it will reflect in the pie chart or line graph, whichever you choose. This feature is good if you need to prepare data for a presentation.
You will be able to upload jpeg and png files into your design canvas.
There are several text headings and fonts to choose from to give your design a fancy look.
Modules have ready-made designs such as “team members”—which displays a picture of everyone on your team rather in be at a job, etc. It also hosts a ton of other modules for YouTube and other social media.
Change the background of the canvas by using any of the special type of designs presented in DesignCap. You can also change the background using the gradient and color table. There are a number of ways to be creative with the background of your design.
Downloading & Sharing Your Designs
DesignCap makes it easy to download, print, or share your designs. If you choose to download your design, you'll have the option of saving as jpeg, png, and PDF. Please note that the option to save as a png and PDF is available for the two premium packages and not the free version. You may also choose to print your design if needed.
If you choose to share your design, you can share by means of a unique link or post on social media. Social media platforms available to share to is Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and E-mail. If you share by link you can choose whether the share state such as public view, public and edit, or private view.
To get any support from Design Cap, you will have to visit the support tab on their website. There you will see call to action buttons to tutorials and tips, FAQs, and a suggestions and tips. If you click on Suggestions from our Team it will simply take you to a contact form to fill out any concerns you may have. I have not had to contact support yet so I do not know at this time how long it will take to get a response back.
DesignCap really is a simple design platform that will allow one to design graphics very quickly. They have some very good templates available. If you get the free version of DesignCap, you will be very limited on what you can do. If you need to be able to do more, I suggest upgrading to one of the premium plans. The best bang for your buck would be Plus package, which can be paid monthly or annually.
Give DesignCap a try for free to get familiar with how to use it and then make the decision to upgrade to one of the paid plans as you see fit. I use DesignCap for social media use for the church I attend and it makes a difference when you posts have quality graphics! If you have used DesignCap before, please let me know what your experience has been like! If you have any questions, contact us and we will try to get you an answer.
